Archaeologists Involved to Arrange Pasar Ikan

Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama has involved archaeologists to arrange Pasar Ikan, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. It is expected, the arrangement can restore the area that was once contained by fortress buildings owned by the Dutch trading partner company, Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC).

"I've cooperated with archaeologist and we want to do restoration," he stated, at City Hall, Tuesday (5/10).

Arrangement Socialization in Pasar Ikan Keeps Being Conducted

After controlling is done, fortress which previously covered by residential exists again. The area is planned to be restored as before.

According to Basuki, almost all parts of the fort are still covered with soil and the rest of the home foundation. Hence, Jakarta Provincial Government will conduct the excavation.

"We want to do the excavation thus people not be curious," he told.

Regarding lawsuit from Aquiarium Village citizens about demolishment, he does not mind it. He assessed, citizens have been relocated to the flats, Marunda and Rawa Bebek.

"They admitted that they are Aquarium citizens, Luar Batang. This is like Kampung Pulo case. In Dutch era, there was a warehouse of VOC, it is impossible to build a home above it," he uttered.
